Objectives

The main objective of the Orava Museum of P. O. Hviezdoslav in Dolný Kubín is to purposefully collect, research, protect, scientifically and professionally evaluate and process the material documents related to the natural and social development, science, technology, culture and arts, with a particular emphasis on the Orava region. The museum also acts as an institution with a nationwide specialization in the field of documenting the Goral culture in Slovakia.

Activities of the museum

The Orava Museum of P. O. Hviezdoslav professionally administers, enlarges, conserves and restores the collections of tangible documents of the natural and cultural heritage, focusing on the Orava region and the life and work of P. O. Hviezdoslav. It also administers, registers and documents the historical collections of the Čaplovič’s Library and participates in the building of the central register of museum collections in Slovakia.
